Akhor Ushers in a New Era of Time-Telling with the Intricate Day/Night Nour La Lumière
Gaining traction for the delicate fusion of high-end watchmaking and artistic design, the burgeoning Geneva independent brand Akhor is once more capturing horological enthusiasts’ imagination. A brainchild brought to life by the visionary Anissa Bader in 2025, Akhor is revered for its unique floating dial architecture, a product of a patented two-disc construction perfected by its allied firm Clamax.
The newest addition to its repertoire, Nour la Lumière, enriches this architecture with a third disc, symbolizing a day/night indicator that gracefully animates the dial’s Saharan landscape. The disc layout cleverly hides the hour and minute hands under a central disc, creating an intriguing illusion of suspension. This innovative design was first seen in the brand’s debut watch, Le Temps en Equilibre, operated by Akhor’s in-house AK10 manual-winding movement.
The hour and minute hands’ tips are perceptible beneath the central plate, made discernible with luminescent inserts and applied on a peripheral chapter ring. The brand’s logo discreetly makes its appearance on the seconds hand counterweight. The watch’s robust build with a slightly larger 40mm cushion-shaped case, complements the intricate details on the dial.
The proprietary AK10 calibre returns with increased complexity, following incorporation of the third disc. Boasting a sturdy 60-hour power reserve and maintaining a stable 4Hz frequency, the calibre addresses new challenges in energy transmission and mass distribution introduced by the third disc.
