Rebirth of An Icon: Unveiling the Marathon CeraShell Navigator Pilot's Watch

The prestigious Marathon introduced the latest generation of its Navigator pilot’s watch - the Marathon CeraShell Navigator Pilot’s watch. The new model carries forth the core design conceptualized in collaboration with the Kelly Air Force Base in 1986, yet emerges as a significantly refined timepiece. This well-curated upgrade comes with a slight increase in price while impressively addressing the minor flaws of the previous generation.

The original Navigator was introduced as a stainless steel watch before the U.S. Government’s request saw the development of a lightweight, composite case version in the 90s. In recent years, upon another request, the stainless steel Navigator was reintroduced, and Marathon currently offers both versions. The standard composite-cased Navigator through the years has improved substantially with the CeraShell Navigator being the most advanced iteration, surpassing the expectations of military contracts and appealing to detail-oriented enthusiasts.

The CeraShell Navigator retains a stainless steel central case that houses the movement. However, the outer section of the middle case uses CeraShell, a composite made from bio-sourced plastic and ceramic powder, rather than the previous Fibreshell. Other enhancements include a flat sapphire crystal covering the top of the case, a stainless steel push/pull-style crown seated at 3 o’clock, and an updated crown engraved with Marathon’s logo.
