Maurice Lacroix Celebrates 10th Aikon Anniversary with Refined Automatic Chronograph
Renowned for its elegant design and sport-inspired details, the Aikon collection has defined Maurice Lacroix’s catalog since its 2016 inception. Initially available with quartz movements, automatic iterations, including the celebrated Automatic Chronograph, joined the lineup in 2018. A decade after the Aikon’s dramatic entrance into the horological world, Maurice Lacroix revisits its path-breaking Automatic Chronograph, bringing several noteworthy updates to the table while maintaining its signature aesthetic charm.
The revamped chronograph also features an invigorated dial. Maurice Lacroix has implemented a greater depth to its signature Clous de Paris pattern, with a raised pyramid texture that adds intrigue to the chronograph display. But fear not – the familiar layout remains unchanged. Two chronograph counters display elapsed minutes at 12 o’clock and elapsed hours at 6, keeping running seconds neatly at 9. A day-date aperture at 3 o’clock completes this exceptional display, complemented by rhodium-plated hands and indices retaining the revered Aikon design.
The refreshed Aikon Automatic Chronograph is infused with the vitality of five distinct references, three sporting matching dials and snailed counters in understated hues of blue, black, or green. The remaining two offer a delightful contrast: one bearing a silver dial with blue counters and the other, a daring gold-toned dial with black counters.
Let’s peek under the hood. The reimagined Aikon Automatic Chronograph series is powered by the latest ML112 caliber, an automatic movement by Sellita. This movement exhibits a substantial upgrade from the original model, offering a power reserve lasting more than 60 hours. Aesthetically pleasing to last detail, the movement is visible through the exhibition caseback, decked up with perlage and Côtes de Genève decorations along with an openworked rotor flaunting the brand’s logo.
