Urwerk's UR-100V Lightspeed Ceramic: A Poetic Illustration of Time as Solar Distance

Published: 06 Aug 2026
Discover Urwerk's newest creation, the UR-100V Lightspeed Ceramic, a poetic interpretation of time measured in lightyears.

Embarking on a fresh journey within the luxury watch sphere is Urwerk’s latest stopwatch object d’art, the UR-100V Lightspeed Ceramic. This latest stunner, one of the brand’s most celebrated creations since 2019, deftly remodels the trademark wandering-hour satellite display into a compact, wearable format. Through the years, the UR-100 series has dazzled in gold, titanium, carbon, bronze, and sundry other interpretations.

But it’s the UR-100V Lightspeed Ceramic that truly strikes a chord of uniqueness. Echoing its 2024 predecessor, this new marvel visualises in horological terms the time sunlight takes to reach planets within our solar system. It adds a poetic twist in illustrating the expansiveness of time and space.

The dial continues the brand’s tradition of using rotating satellite cubes bearing hour numerals. The twist is that each hour, represented by photons, continues on a journey across the dial, in sync with the carousel arms’ rotation, the trajectory representing the hours it takes for sunlight to reach each planet. With this piece, notion of time moves beyond the boundaries of our worldly existence, catapulting creativity and luxury watchmaking to another stratosphere.
