Mido Revamps Its Iconic Ocean Star Collection for a Modern Tool-Watch Approach

Published: 29 Jun 2026
Mido has taken a bold and unexpected step, upgrading its well-known Ocean Star collection with a contemporary tool-watch design that remarkably blends utility and aesthetics.

Since its inception in 1944, Mido’s Ocean Star collection has always been a practical and cost-effective solution for dive watch enthusiasts. The Ocean Star 200C introduced not long ago brought ceramic bezels and a spectrum of colorful dials to the line. However, Mido’s recent revamp of this collection goes beyond subtle changes. The latest range imparts a distinctive utilitarian design, rendering a more sophisticated touch to the everyday diver watch. Available in five versions, the fresh design elements are noticeable across a variety of dial colors such as blue, white, silver, and black. The case size has been reduced from 42.5mm to a more compact 41mm. The redesigned profile now houses a more condensed package, enhanced by a redesigned case structure with shorter lugs. Continuing to maintain its satin-brushed and polished body, Mido revamped the unidirectional bezel using an aluminium insert and replaced the triangular dial crown with a more alluring rectangular one. Featuring sizable indexes and broad diamond-cut, tri-faceted hour and minute hands coated with white Super-LumiNova, the updated design ensures greater legibility. Run by the Mido Calibre 80 automatic movement, it boasts a commendable power reserve of up to 80 hours. Housing a smaller case profile, impressive dial enhancements, and reliable automatic mechanical performance, the Ocean Star 200 series is a grand blend of elegance, technical prowess, and versatility. Mido’s meticulous redesign might change the face of the ever-evolving tool-watch category.
