Discovering the Artistry and Striking Style of the Yum Cha Watch by Watch Ho & Co. and Selten

Marking the third collaboration between the keen-eyed timepiece enthusiasts at Watch Ho & Co. and the Hong Kong microbrand Selten, today sees the debut of a captivating new model: the Yum Cha edition. Until now, this dynamic partnership brought us two noteworthy creations, the Jui and Jui Bauhinia, each exhibiting an alluring ‘Mountain’ pattern composed of conscientious CNC-machining on mother-of-pearl dials. With exquisite dial options in pink or purple iridescence, these models captured the hearts of numerous collectors around the world and established a strong advocacy in the niche watch community.

With the third anniversary of the enthusiast community comes an entirely new creative direction. The Yum Cha edition, a divergence from the previous collections, levels up in terms of opulence and intricacy, showcasing a dial hand-engraved by master engraver Qin. Additionally, the dial is adorned with grand feu enameling, a traditional method of vitreous enameling, adding depth and a glossy finish. However, the inspiration for this timepiece is closer to home for the founder, Jackie Ho. It’s a heartwarming homage to his delectable memories from childhood, when his grandmother would frequently take him out for dim sum, a popular Cantonese cuisine.

Meticulous craftsmanship is on show with Master Qin’s handiwork, it takes him approximately 8 hours to engrave each dial. The design intricately captures the distinctive texture and pattern of a bamboo steamer lid, often associated with dim sum. The Yum Cha watch not only tells time but tells a story, each crease a memory, each line a cherished moment.
