Bell & Ross Unveils the Stunning BR-X3 Micro-Rotor: A Square Marvel of Timekeeping Craftsmanship
In its relentless pursuit of horological excellence, Bell & Ross, the venerated Parisian watchmaker, ushered in 2025 with the release of its third-generation BR-X3, a watch wrapped in a robust square case with sapphire crystal and an open-worked movement. The BR-X3 Tourbillon Micro-Rotor, a limited edition of 25, intricately crafted timepieces, quickly became an iconic symbol of the brand commanding a price upwards of 100,000 USD.
For 2026, Bell & Ross decided to take a more democratised approach. They debuted a limited-edition variant of the BR-X3, the Bell & Ross BR-X3 Micro-Rotor, priced at less than a quarter of its predecessor, yet retaining all of its grandeur and allure.
Unlike the fully skeletonised BR-X3 Tourbillon, the Micro-Rotor adopts a more discreet approach. Small sections of the movement are revealed, such as the micro-rotor section. What truly takes centre stage are the solid movement bridges and the Piet Mondrian-esque intersecting horizontal and vertical lines. The dial lacks hour markers but compensates with luminous hour and minute hands.
The caliber BR-CAL.390 automatic movement, not made in-house but created specifically for Bell & Ross, operates at 4Hz with a 48-hour power reserve. The wearer can admire the undulating balance wheel, spinning automatic micro-rotor, and a skeletonized view of the mainspring barrel, providing a rudimentary power reserve indicator.
Despite its considerable 40mm width, the BR-X3 Micro-Rotor strikes a perfect balance between size and presence. Bell & Ross ensures superior wearability with short lugs, a lack of sharp edges, and a slim profile, marrying comfort with style in an elegant package.
