The Evolution of the Classic: Breitling Refreshes the Iconic Chronomat Collection

Evidencing an unerring commitment to groundbreaking design and laudable craftsmanship, the iconic watchmaking brand, Breitling, has breathed new life into its renowned Chronomat collection. As a nod to the collection’s 2020 revamp, the relaunch introduces a modernized design language along with several consumer-friendly alterations that stay true to the iconic Chronomat spirit.

Breitling’s refreshed Collection features an impressive lineup of 22 variants, ranging from the stunning chronographs to the classic time-and-date models. This arsenal comprises three key models; the Chronomat B01 42 chronograph, the Chronomat Automatic B31 40, and the Chronomat Automatic 36. Each showcases a robust aesthetic, hallmarked by numerous dial colors and metal options.

This meticulous upgrade introduces the Chronomat Automatic B31 40, an incredible debut of a time-and-date Chronomat in a 40mm diameter. This pioneering design strikes a perfect balance between the model’s sporty aesthetic and suitability for a diverse range of wrist sizes. The model sees the introduction of the Caliber B31 to the Chronomat range, intriguingly a feature of the Top Time B31 and select SuperOcean Heritage models previously.

Lastly, the Chronomat Automatic 36 is available in a stylish steel version with a classic blue dial. For some extra sparkle and glamour, there are also remarkable steel-cased options with white and grey mother-of-pearl dials, equipped with lab-grown diamond hour markers and a lab-grown diamond-set bezel.

Significant strides have been made in the integration of the bracelet into the case and lugs to create a more seamless look. This change from traditional lugs to a shrouded-lug design thanks to the introduction of the 2026 Chronomat case, updates the case shape to a more sophisticated tonneau shape while simultaneously improving the overall ergonomics and elegance.
