Ralph Lauren Unveils Updated Western Cushion with Compacter Charm

Published: 14 Oct 2026
Drawing on the rustic allure of the American West, Ralph Lauren astounds the horological world with a reinvigorated iteration of its 2018 Western Cushion watch.

Enthralled by the romantic past of the American West, Ralph Lauren drew inspiration from this rugged hand of history to launch its Western Watch Collection in 2018. To commemorate the brand’s 50-year legacy, it gracefully extended Western influences onto wrists, capturing hearts and attention alike. Now, it ignites the horological scene again, presenting a fresh, more compact reinterpretation of the Western Cushion model.

The new Western Cushion watch, snugly cased in a 38mm stainless steel shell, stands as the most noticeable revamp from the original, larger 42mm version. The pocket watch charm remains in three versions of this beloved timepiece, thanks in part to the collaboration with Richemont brands Piaget and IWC. This strategic partnership ensures Ralph Lauren’s philosophy of the Wild West marries seamlessly with the impeccable mechanics of Swiss tradition.

All three versions flaunt a blend of Roman and Arabic numerals matched with Breguet-style hands, subtly offsetting the rustic charm with expertly engineered Swiss craftsmanship. The RL514 movement, exclusively crafted by Piaget for Ralph Lauren, powers the timepiece, proving that Western style does not compromise leading-edge horological precision.

Despite the higher price tag - $26,000 for the black and off-white lacquer versions, and $29,000 for the turquoise edition - the new Western Cushion models are no mere fashion watches. They are, in fact, a testament to Ralph Lauren’s passion for watch collecting and his commitment to not only maintain but enhance the old-world charm of the American West in this swanky, modern timepiece.
