Revealing the beauty of subtlety and sophistication, design maestros Phil Toledano and Alfred Chan are back with their latest high-concept masterpiece, the Oshinobi. Taking inspiration from brutalist architecture, this watch is a stunning example of wearable art, featuring a horizontally sliding cover that conceals a dial set with two carats of snow-set diamonds.

The Oshinobi stands as a symbol of unspoken luxury. The name ‘O-shinobi’ in Japanese refers to a person of high rank traveling incognito, perfectly encapsulating the watch’s charm. The watch further embodies this concept with a hidden crown, accessible from beneath the watch at the 12 o’clock position. Its inspiration doesn’t stop there - the dial and crystal shape draws on the beauty of natural geodes, appearing ordinary until revealed as a treasure trove of crystals.

Crafted entirely from grade 5 titanium, the Oshinobi appears to be more bracelet than watch. Its alternating asymmetrical links, devoid of any bracelet taper, conceal the movement and dial from top view, further enhancing its mysterious allure. However, with an alternative perspective, it becomes evident that this ‘bracelet watch design’ does indeed house a movement and dial within its ultra-sleek 21mm-wide case. This new offering from Toledano & Chan pairs perfectly with a hidden butterfly clasp, akin to that found on their lauded inaugural model, the b/1.

The Oshinobi signifies several firsts for the design house. Apart from being the first manually-wound Toledano & Chan watch, it is also their first watch to house a movement from Le Temps Manufactures instead of their usual Sellita SW100. The refined dimensions of the Oshinobi necessitated a smaller movement, which, along with the superior quality from LTM, perfectly complements the watch’s exquisite design.

While only a prototype has been revealed so far, it’s clear that the stylish, secretive Oshinobi watch will take the horological world by storm once launched. This under-wraps timepiece will be a limited release, with more thrilling details to be revealed in 2027.
