Luxury watchmaker Rado partners with Australian cricketer Cameron Green to release a reimagined, cricket-inspired Captain Cook watch design.

Rado, the distinguished Swiss watchmaker, has once again lifted the bails in a bid to celebrate the beloved sport of cricket. This time around, it has worked in concert with Australian cricketing star - Cameron Green to release a fresh rendition of its iconic Captain Cook watch, incorporating hallmarks of cricket into its design.

Preserving the familiar Captain Cook architecture, this novel timepiece features a lush green and gold colour palette symbolic of Australia’s cricket attire. The timepiece, built with a robust case of 42mm in diameter and 12.3mm in thickness, radiates a polished stainless steel aesthetic complemented by a vibrant yellow gold PVD-coated rotating bezel equipped with a green high-tech ceramic insert and metalised markings. The dial is shielded by a box-shaped sapphire crystal, presenting an anti-reflective coating on both its sides, while the screw-down crown and case guarantee 300m of water resistance.

The dial artistry features a green gradient sunray surface, crafted to mirror a cricket pitch, with three yellow gold dots at 12 o’clock meant to replicate the three cricket stumps. The flange showcases a minutes track that takes design inspiration from the stitching of a cricket ball. The moving anchor symbol on a red backdrop is designed to mimic the ball itself, and a date display located at 3 o’clock completes the dial design.

The heart beating within the watch is the automatic Calibre R763 – a reliable Swatch Group workhorse movement. Enhanced with an antimagnetic Nivachron hairspring, this movement operates at 21,600 vibes/hour and offers a substantial 80-hour power reserve.

To suit the diverse style preferences, Rado offers the watch on a bicolour bracelet, a green-and-yellow gold textile NATO-style strap, and a black rubber strap. Priced at USD 4,700, this cricket-themed creation is both a nod to the game and a tribute to the spirit of adventure that Captain Cook symbolises.
