Revolutionising Timekeeping: American Watchmaker RGM Introduces Game-Changing Perpetual Calendar Watch Model 501-PC
The American independent watchmaker RGM Watch Company unveils its novel Model 501-PC featuring the perpetual calendar complication, their first since Model 103-R Minute Repeater Perpetual of the late 90s. This significant introduction rides on a long-harboured ambition of the company’s founder, Roland G. Murphy. The Model 501-PC, representing traditional American watchmaking artistry associated with RGM, borrows design inspiration from pocket watches of the late 1800s. Housed in a 39mm case of brushed and polished 316L stainless steel, and a mere 11.5mm thick, Model 501-PC elegantly accommodates both an automatic movement and a perpetual calendar mechanism with moon phase indication. It features a raised, box-style sapphire crystal, adding depth and enhancing its historical allure. The crystal case back also provides a glimpse of the intricate movement and its decoration. The clean exterior design allows the traditional dial to proudly hold the viewers’ focus. The Grand Feu-fired enamel dial, unique in its character, revives the enamel dials of ancient perpetual calendar pocket watches. The blued steel hands against the stark white dial, a characteristic of classical watchmaking, enhance the watch’s aesthetic appeal. The Model 501-PC features an intricate date display at 3 o’clock, the day at 9, and the month at 12. Its month display, divided into four parts, represents a full year with an innovative way of showing a leap year. The release of the Model 501-PC signifies a significant chapter in the chronicles of watchmaking, brilliantly blending the charm of tradition with the finesse of technology.
