Hamilton Resurrects Art Deco Elegance in the American Classic Cushion Collection
Hamilton’s latest entry into the watch market, the American Classic Cushion Mechanical Collection, sees the brand turning a century back in time to curate designs reminiscent of the 1920s and 30s. The new collection brings back the elegant Art Deco geometry and compact proportions that once dominated wrist fashion, adapting them to modern tastes.
The collection draws direct inspiration from the Cushion Plain and Cushion Engraved models of 1926, breathing new life into their classic appeal. Each piece in the series seamlessly blends the vintage charm of its cushion-shaped cases with the advantages of modern watchmaking, such as the incorporation of Super-LumiNova indications and contemporary sapphire crystals.
A key feature of this collection is the recognition it pays to cinema - with a design inspired by one of the classic Hamilton watches featured in the movie ‘Oppenheimer’.
All models in the collection adhere to an Art Deco theme but feature unique interpretations. The 30mm models exhibit a beige sandblasted dial with Arabic numerals and classy black and glossy lacquered hour and minute hands. The 34mm models present an array of black, beige, and silver dials, all featuring a clear, functional appearance.
The Hamilton H-42 hand-wound mechanical movement, a new addition to the Hamilton line-up, powers the vintage-inspired series. The movement builds upon the ETA 7001 base, its ancestor being the Peseux 7001 developed in the 1970s, and is updated with a Nivachron balance spring and an extended power reserve.
