The Long-Awaited Seiko Panda Watch: Stealing Hearts Since Its 2024 Exhibition Debut

Published: 06 Oct 2026
Seiko presents its limited-edition Panda watch, a design initiative turned reality, that stole the limelight at the 2024 Incredibly Specialized Watch Exhibition.

A marvel to the watch enthusiasts’ eyes, Seiko’s limited-edition chronographs, have recently emerged from their power design project, a platform that promotes breaking design boundaries. The Panda watch, one of seven exhibition pieces initially showcased at the 2024 Incredibly Specialized Watch Exhibition, managed to grab the most attention, and has now evolved into a fully-fledged model, mirroring its original layout.

Encapsulating the charm of this endearing creature, the Panda watch was conceptualized by Kiyotaka Sakai - a leading member of Seiko’s product design team and the creative mind behind Grand Seiko’s Evolution 9 Collection. Sakai attempted to personify the visual charm of a real panda into a chronograph. The result—a timepiece that boasts of panda-like aesthetics, with drooping subdials for eyes, chronograph pushers resembling ears, hour and minute hands inspired by bamboo leaves, and a smiling face at the six o’clock mark, making the watch decidedly delightful.

In its retail version, Seiko has kept the original black-and-white scheme but introduced an additional endearing variant in pink and grey, inspired by a newborn panda’s soft pink skin. This additional version radiates an equally enticing personality that is bound to make a mark. Scheduled to hit the market in November 2026, the Panda watches come in two limited editions—3,000 pieces (white-dial version) and 2,000 pieces (pink version) worldwide, each priced at 540 USD. Thus, maintaining the original 2024 concept’s enchantment intact, Seiko has adequately taken into consideration durability, legibility, manufacturing constraints, and cost to make the Panda watch, an adored reality.
