The 'Dreamsicle' Revealed: Wind Vintage and True North Team Up for an Exclusive Chronograph Launch
Eric Wind, widely known as “the watch dealer to the stars,” has made a name for himself through his company Wind Vintage, offering a range of high-end timepieces from contemporary luxury sports watches to rare vintage ones. Collaborating with Los Angeles based brand True North, Wind Vintage occasionally offers limited-edition mecaquartz chronographs; their latest offering, the ‘Dreamsicle’, carries the winning combination of having a fun, playful aesthetic whilst suiting the sophisticated tastes of Wind’s VIP clientele.
Design-wise, apart from dial and bezel color changes, the four Wind Vintage x True North Vintage Rally Timer models are nearly identical. The silhouette and design are inspired by the vintage Rolex Daytona ref. 6241 watches of the 1960s. These pieces, also known by their nickname ‘Windtona’, reflect the aura of a 1960s Daytona but are presented with unique colorways no Rolex has ever exhibited.
The ‘Dreamsicle’ is built with modern materials and features – from its stainless steel structure with both brushed and polished surfaces, a sapphire insert for its tachymeter bezel, to a domed crystal made from sapphire-coated mineral glass. Resisting the time’s temptation, it sticks to the unadorned screw-down caseback style of Rolex Daytona chronographs of the 60s. The watch also offers a solid 50 meters water resistance, a guarantee for those seeking functional, practical watch design. The blend of a vintage vibe injected with modern practicality truly amplifies the allure of the ‘Dreamsicle’ chronograph.
