Patek Philippe Honours Women's Horological History with Revitalised Gondolo 'Ladies First' Collection

Published: 01 Oct 2026
Italy, home to haute couture, witnessed Patek Philippe launching 'Ladies First' under the Gondolo Collection, featuring sumptuous modernisations.

The verve of high fashion radiates from Italy’s Milan - a paragon of couture. In this stronghold of vogue, at the grand Watch Art Exhibition, Patek Philippe unveiled the revitalized Gondolo Ladies First collection. The collection is a distinguished representation of the colossal influence women have held in Patek Philippe’s horological history, reviving a significant modern women’s watch icon but also embracing a distinctive style in execution.

The collection boasts six variations of the Ref. 7043, all flaunting the signature 31 x 34.8mm cushion-shaped case. Diamond-set dials adorn three of the models, while the Joaillerie versions take elegance to another level, featuring dials, cases, and lugs bedecked in diamonds. The collections’ offering in rose gold, white gold, or a combination of both, supplemented with vibrant straps and gemstone hour markers, are a distinct divergence from the earlier more subdued designs.

The latest Gondolo Ladies First models hark back to 2009 but present a shift in movement design. The Ref. 7043 is equipped with Patek Philippe’s E15 quartz movement, a slender 15 x 13mm caliber that measures a mere 1.8mm in thickness. This watch provides only time functionality and boasts a battery life of about three years. This design choice aligns with the brand’s objective of forging a ‘wear-with-ease’ watch, apt for modern women’s daily wear.

This homage extends beyond just the ‘Ladies First’ name. The Gondolo collection, unveiled in 1993, is named after Brazilian retailer Gondolo & Labouriau, commemorating a vital historic association dating back to the early 20th century. This range draws inspiration from Art Deco designs of its time, featuring cases in cushions, squares, rectangles, and tonneau shapes.
