Unveiling Marco Tedeschi’s Impressive Central Floating Tourbillon in Black Aventurine

The Central Floating Tourbillon, originally appearing under the Kross Studio name, has been rebranded to reflect the personal identity of its creator, Marco Tedeschi. This masterpiece aligns with Tedeschi’s mechanical philosophy which he developed as early as 2006. Interestingly enough, his initial objective wasn’t to create a tourbillon but to develop a manually wound movement with an impressive power reserve deriving from a single barrel.

Starting at the watch’s core, Tedeschi crafted a large barrel on the central axis, building the movement around it. The regulating organ naturally followed on the same axis, leading to the creation of the Central Tourbillon and eventually to the patented Central Floating Tourbillon, raised above the movement. In the design of this watch, the case, display, and winding system all honor the aesthetics of the movement.

Providing a hint of sparkle, the multi-layered black aventurine dial is subtly mesmerizing. The central segment houses the barrel, balance, and tourbillon, while an aperture at 9 o’clock exposes part of the gear train. Just like its predecessors (Blue Aventurine, Meteorite, and Moss Agate editions), the watch operates on the manually wound KS 7’005 calibre, boasting a notable 5-day power reserve. The tourbillon shares the same axis with the balance, almost artistically hovering above the mechanism below. It is complemented by rhodium-plated hands with white Super-LumiNova, neatly delineating hours and minutes around the periphery. Completing the impressive design, the watch is strapped with black calf leather coupled with a Grade 5 titanium deployant buckle.
