Known for crafting classic timepieces at reasonable prices, Geneva-based Frederique Constant has released two limited edition watches inspired by the French Foreign Legion. Established in 1831, the Legion is celebrated for its discipline, loyalty, and camaraderie, comprising men from over 140 nationalities. Frederique Constant, with its own story of courage and daring, encapsulates this spirit in its new timepieces.

The brand was born out of Peter Stas’ move from the Netherlands to Switzerland. His bold shift allowed him to expand his passion for watchmaking on a larger scale. Despite the rigorous foreign environment, Stas succeeded in establishing Frederique Constant as a respected name in the global watch industry, a spirit that has remained even post his retirement. This courageous spirit mirrors that of the French Foreign Legion, becoming the inspiration for their fine collaboration.

The aesthetics of the Highlife Automatic Watch collection, for instance, are recreated with a golden-sand dial in a 39mm by 10.34mm stainless-steel case. The case supports a convex sapphire crystal and offers 100m of water resistance. The dial carries the seven-flame grenade emblem of the Legion, reinforcing the Legion’s powerful ethos. The emblem is accompanied by polished silver-coloured hour and minutes hands, filled with white luminous material for enhanced visibility, while a framed date window follows at 3.

The watch is powered by the FC-303, based on the La Joux-Perret G100 (ETA 2824-2 alternative), an automatic movement running at 28,800 vibrations/hour with a 68-hour power reserve. The watch comes with three interchangeable options, including a brown crocodile-patterned leather strap, a stainless-steel bracelet, and a black rubber strap.
