Seiko Introduces Four Fresh Facets to its Prospex Speedtimer Series Celebrating its 145th Anniversary

Seiko, a brand renowned for its historic contributions to the world of wrist chronographs, continues to expand and evolve with its Prospex Speedtimer collection. Originally introduced in 1969 with the integral calibre 6139, the Speedtimer has long been a symbol of Seiko’s unwavering commitment to the craft of horology.

Marking Seiko’s 145th-anniversary celebrations, the brand unveils four new watches under the Speedtimer range, tastefully named as HBD001, HBD002, HBC003, and HBC004. Drawing design cues from its historical predecessors, these new arrivals retain a nostalgic aura while embracing contemporary perspectives in watch crafting.

Overhauling the collection, the references HBD001 and HBD002 present a redesigned case with an almost helmet-like central section, a homage to their 1970s counterparts. Topped with a sapphire crystal, the watch silhouette also features a large crown and a handy 100-meter water resistance, catered to the users’ diverse needs.

Infusing fresh colors, HBD001 and HBD002 both sport new dial designs, each in a distinct shade creating a stark contrast in their indications. The HBD001 paints a vivid image with a sky blue backdrop, while the HBD002 opts for a warm silver tone. Inside both these watches, we find the Calibre 8R48, a standout movement equipped with a vertical clutch and column wheel, promising smooth operational performance. With Seiko’s newest additions, timekeeping isn’t just a mechanical function, but a nostalgic journey blended with modern sophistication.
