Compact, Robust, and Versatile: Exclusive Insights on Hanhart MAD Preventor HD12's 36mm Limited Edition

Published: 28 Aug 2026
Breaking barriers in the world of horology, Hanhart has unveiled an exciting limited-edition 36mm variant of the MAD Preventor HD12.

In keeping with its commitment to designing robust and versatile everyday watches, Hanhart has reinvented its MAD Preventor HD12 watch series in a more compact 36mm variant. This exclusive edition is the result of a collaboration with the British watch enthusiast known colloquially as the MAD collector. This reinvention carries forward the technical elements prized in the original series, with Hanhart using its proprietary HD12 steel for this unique timepiece. The special alloy offers greater surface hardness while also exhibiting corrosion-resistant properties, providing durability alongside polishability.

The 36mm case of the Hanhart MAD Preventor HD12 stands 10.5mm thick with a lug-to-lug measurement of 43mm. The case has been treated with a transparent hard coating for additional surface protection. Compared with the standard 316L steel hardiness of around 220 HV, the Preventor HD12 series has achieved a significant hardness increase up to 1200 HV.

This new 36mm variant of the Hanhart MAD Preventor HD12 is powered by the Sellita SW200-1, offering an impressive 28,800 vibrations per hour, and around 38 hours of power reserve. The timepiece also guarantees reliable regulation by Hanhart—anywhere between 0 and +8 seconds per day. Purchasers can choose between black or brown leather straps, or a durable hardened steel bracelet. A production run of 200 pieces has been announced, setting the stage for an exciting race among watch collectors and enthusiasts.
