Glashütte Original Debuts Duo of Senator Chronograph Watches: A Blend of Classic and Navigator Designs
For their 2026 release, the renowned Glashütte Original has launched two versions of the Senator Chronograph watch, each carrying the brand’s iconic Panorama date display along with a flyback functionality. While each model shares core functionalities, they both have a distinguished visual identity. The classic version traces its aesthetics from the observation pocket watches of the late 19th and early 20th centuries, embracing a dressier appearance. The Navigator version, on the other hand, imbibes its essence from the 1940s pilot’s watches, resonating with a noticeably utilitarian aesthetic.
The heart of these models, the Glashütte Original’s manufacture Caliber 37-24 automatic flyback chronograph, keeps the watch ticking with a power reserve of 70 hours at a 4Hz operating rate. The buckle arrangement introduces Glashütte Original’s quick-change mechanism helping to swap easily between different straps.
Differing noticeably, the classic Senator Chronograph showcases elegance with a silvered grain-textured dial featuring blue-finished Roman numeral hour markers crafted from solid gold. In contrast, the Navigator displays a matte black lacquer dial with Arabic numerals carved from solid blocks of Super-LumiNova, paired with luminous sword-shaped hands, a more tool-oriented rendition of the design.
The watch models have strap options as diverse as their designs – a Louisiana alligator leather strap, synthetic fabric strap, or a three-link stainless steel bracelet. The strap colours have been chosen to complement their respective dials, with the classic model featuring a dark blue strap and the Navigator model paired with a black strap.
