Kiwame Tokyo's Yane: A Fusion of Art Deco Elegance and Traditional Japanese Architecture

Standing out as an anomaly in a country dominated by industry bigwigs like Seiko, Orient, Citizen, and Grand Seiko, Kiwame Tokyo presents an enchanting blend of classic European style and Japan’s rich architectural heritage. Located in Asakusa, the brand was started by Masami Watanabe and is known for its stylish, Calatrava-inspired dress watches, all offered at remarkably accessible prices. The new Yane models, named after the Japanese term for ‘roof,’ carry forward this legacy by delivering comfort and style in a unique rectangular case.

In its earlier releases, the brand has embraced diverse themes with collections like its compact Kurotsuki and Usuki watches, rooted in the 1940s era, and the Mune series, inspired by traditional Japanese roofs. Its latest offering, the Yane, however, marks a departure from the familiar round cases to an intriguing rectangular case, steeped in the strong aesthetic currents of the Art Deco movement.

The watch offers dials in two variants – brown and black, both enamelled and exuding a minimalist appeal due to the lack of hour markers. Fostered by a compact Miyota automatic movement, Kiwame Tokyo Yane guarantees precision and reliability alongside its eclectic style. Straps made of Italian calfskin leather augment the watch’s chic appearance.

Pre-orders for the first batch of significant 400 pieces are set to open on August 19, 2026. With an overall retail price of USD 730 (excluding tax), this new offering from Kiwame Tokyo aims to redefine affordable luxury.
