Rediscover Ulysse Nardin's Iconic Blast Moonstruck: Now Bedecked in a Dress of Rose Gold

Ulysse Nardin, a brand synonymously linked to the creation of awe-inspiring astronomical watches, makes a compelling comeback with its Blast Moonstruck wristwatch, now donned in an enticing rose gold guise. A vivid recall of the era post-1983, when the enterprise was acquired by Rolf Schnyder and a challenge was tossed to Dr Ludwig Oechslin to engender a timepiece capable of displaying the theatrics of celestial bodies. The result was an array of groundbreaking timepieces, which situates Ulysse Nardin as the most distinguished pioneer of astronomical watches.

Honouring its ancestry, the new Blast Moonstruck portrays a geocentric spectacle of the cosmos, exhibiting the apparent movements of the Sun and Moon from the Earth perspective. It presents a three-dimensional depiction of the Northern Hemisphere, craftily engraved underneath a domed sapphire crystal that appears to hover above the dial. An aventurine base below it evokes a sky strewn with stars, embroidering the intricate display.

Notably, the watch couples together five interconnected astronomical indications. It showcases an exceptionally accurate moon phase, the days of the lunar month, tidal coefficients, and the apparent positions of both celestial bodies around the globe. Additionally, it provides a Worldtimer feature, displaying principal time zones, allowing a user to read global time while visualising the Sun’s apparent movement over 24 hours. This feature also illustrates the tidal coefficient, signifying Ulysse Nardin’s commendable expertise in marine chronometers and navigation.

The movement of the timepiece incorporates Ulysse Nardin’s patented world-time mechanism which allows local time adjustment forward or backward in one-hour increments via pushers on the left side of the case. This maintains the minutes’ hand and all astronomical calculations untouched, making it a highly practical timepiece for globe-trotters. Its case, measuring 45mm in diameter, is a harmonious amalgamation of satin-finished, polished 18k rose gold upper part with a black DLC-treated titanium middle case.
