Diving Deeper and Darker: The German Precision of Hanhart's Aquasphere Dive Watch in Matte Black

Published: 24 Jul 2026
In a move forward from traditional pilots' watches, Hanhart introduces an updated matte black version of their Aquasphere Dive Watch - a timepiece of unapologetic functionality.

Continuing to evolve from their traditional pilots’ watches, German brand Hanhart has introduced an irresistibly dark, matte black version of their Aquasphere Dive Watch. This robust timepiece features the brand’s distinctive design and doesn’t make concessions for superfluous glam.

Emerging in this new black and white palette accentuated by Hanhart’s signature red details, the Aquasphere Matte Black remains fundamentally unchanged. The 42mm stainless steel case, identical in design to its predecessors, measures 42mm in diameter, 12.95mm thick and 49mm lug-to-lug. A medley of satin-brushed, polished, and matt-finished surfaces serve up an enticing twist to an otherwise straightforward design.

But it’s the matte black dial that steals the show. Framed by a silver-coloured rehaut, applied hour markers including an Arabic numeral at 12 o’clock, and broad hands filled with Super-LumiNova C1 GL X2, ensure time is easily readable even in the dark depths of the ocean. Loyal to its brand, the central seconds hand sports a bright red tip.

The watch operates on either a Sellita SW200-1 or a Soprod P024, depending on the production batch. Showcasing 28,800 vibrations per hour, hacking seconds and at least 38 hours of power reserve, every movement of this timepiece demonstrates Hanhart’s in-house standard.

Buyers have a gamut of stylish and functional options to strap this timepiece to their wrist: a lightweight elastic Hook Strap, an FKM rubber strap with a folding clasp, or a stainless steel bracelet equipped with a tool-free micro-adjustment system. The Hanhart Aquasphere Matte Black starts at EUR 1,540 and is available now for those wanting to add a darker shade to their watch collection.
