Toledano & Chan and The Horology Club Collaborate to Create 'The Breutalist' Watch

A recent collaboration between distinguished indie brand Toledano & Chan and The Horology Club, a community of passionate watch lovers, has given birth to an extraordinary watch known as ‘The Breutalist’. The timepiece stands as a testament to both the unique design philosophy of Toledano & Chan and the enthusiast spirit of The Horology Club. Particularly, ‘The Breutalist’ embeds the austere beauty of brutalist architecture, drawing inspiration from Marcel Breuer’s work, especially his brutalist masterpiece - the former Whitney Museum building in New York City. The distinctive window of the Breuer building, with its angular contours and minimalistic appeal, has been skilfully translated into the case of The Breutalist. The new model strikes a harmonious balance between art, architecture, and horology. Compared to the brand’s previous creations, The Breutalist showcases an intentional stripping of ornamentation, allowing its brutalist soul to shine. Notably, the case and bracelet are completely blasted, revealing a matte surface akin to the gritty texture of brutalist concrete structures. Interestingly, the matte exterior is accentuated by a mirror-effect dial, paying homage to Breuer’s iconic angular windows. The authenticity and highly conceptual design of the piece is supported by a classic automatic movement - the Sellita SW100.
