Doxa Honours Clive Cussler with New Titanium Reimagining of the Iconic SUB 300 Diver Watch
Renowned for making some of the most iconic divers’ instruments since the 1960s, Doxa’s newest unveiling is testament to its enduring legacy in producing dive watches par excellence. The SUB 300, a foundational watch introduced in 1967, remains the crown jewel of the brand’s dive watch collection. After a series of successful reissues in the late 2010s, including several Aqua Lung, Poseidon, Silver Lung, and Black Lung editions, the SUB 300 was revived as a permanent offering in 2020. However, Doxa had another surprise up its sleeve.
The latest release is a special edition SUB 300 crafted entirely from grade 5 titanium. This iteration serves as a tribute to American adventure novelist and famed underwater explorer Clive Cussler, whose influence contributes significantly to Doxa’s success. Brilliantly embodying Cussler’s spirit of adventure, the new SUB 300 Ti5 Clive Cussler is a noteworthy addition to any collection.
Doxa’s newest addition, the titanium SUB 300 hails as the fourth CLive Cussler edition. Predecessors include the SUB 300T with an aged case and compass dial, the Sharkhunter version in black, and the robust SUB 750T redesigned model. Staying true to its roots, the new SUB 300 retains compact proportions with a 42.50mm diameter and 45mm lug-to-lug measurement. A distinguishing feature is the presence of a box-shaped sapphire crystal, harking back to the almost forgotten plexiglass protections. Strikingly attractive despite adding a slight thickness (13.40mm) to the watch, this crystal, combined with the lack of a helium escape valve, gives the new titanium SUB 300 Clive Cussler edition its enduring appeal.
