The Zenith Defy Extreme: Showstopper Watches now Feature Vibrant Lapis Lazuli and Ultraviolet Editions

When it comes to ingenuity and audacity in reinventing chronographs, Zenith, the watchmaking pioneer, never ceases to amaze, as demonstrated by the new Defy Extreme Lapis Lazuli II and Ultraviolet models.

Zenith’s Defy Extreme chronograph is not for the faint-hearted. With its oversized architectural case, openworked display, and the distinctive spectacle of a central chronograph hand completing a rotation every single second, the watch is a statement in itself. Since its introduction, Zenith has amplified the collection with innovative and show-stopping editions such as the Pantone, Chroma, Mirror, Glacier, Desert and Jungle models.

Pushing the boundaries of creativity once more, Zenith has now unveiled two additional interpretations: The Defy Extreme Lapis Lazuli II and Defy Extreme Ultraviolet. Uniting mechanical prowess with aesthetic innovation, these watches strive to boldly stand apart.

Complimenting its bold counterpart, the Zenith Defy Extreme Ultraviolet radiates a unique presence with its dark grey, almost reflection-free case made from microblasted titanium. Violet-tinted sapphire is used for the dial, instantly altering the watch’s aura and personality. The layered, almost transparent display created by the purple counters reveals parts of the movement below, giving watch connoisseurs an insight into the exquisite craftsmanship and detail that goes into creating Zenith’s timepieces.

Both the bold Zenith Defy Extreme Lapis Lazuli II and Ultraviolet watches replicate the same display. Central hands indicate the hours and minutes, with small seconds ticking away at 9 o’clock. The chronograph features a power reserve displayed at 12, a 30-minute counter at 3 and a 60-second counter at 6. The masterstroke, however, lies in the spectacle uplifted by the central chronograph seconds hand, which completes a full rotation every second, powered by the legendary El Primero 9004 automatic calibre.
