The Revamped Rado Captain Cook Shines with a Daringly Golden Dial

Cementing its status since its 2017 revival, the Captain Cook collection by Rado is the brand’s shining star. A versatile creation, the series ranges from vintage divers to high-tech ceramic models, presenting an eclectic family. The notable trademark of the retro dive watch is its distinctive character, preserved even during experimental evolutions in material, colour, and finish.

The latest addition to this commendable collection is a reinvigorated take on the 39mm Captain Cook series, presenting an eye-catching new golden dial. Retaining the stainless-steel case as initially introduced, this new timepiece is ideal for a variety of wrist sizes. At 39mm in diameter, 45.5mm lug-to-lug and 12mm in thickness, it manages to retain the robustness expected from a diving watch without compromising style.

The major revelation on this release is the sparkling golden dial. Created through a multi-stage process, the dial boasts a diamond-powder-like finish sparkling in all light conditions. Along with the practical elements such as large applied indices treated with yellow gold-coloured PVD, and broad hands filled with white Super-LumiNova, the dial continues to evoke the familiar layout of the Captain Cook series, albeit in an unexpected golden avatar.

The new Rado Captain Cook is powered by the automatic calibre R763, offering a substantial 80-hour power reserve and robust resistance to magnetic fields. Presented with both a stainless-steel bracelet and a textured black rubber trust, this timepiece beautifully juxtaposes vintage styling with a contemporary twist.
