Czapek Reveals the Antarctique Watch: An Homage to Polar Landscapes with a Unique Frozen Meteor Dial

Celebrated watchmaker Czapek has deftly combined mechanical prowess with awe-inspiring aesthetics in their new limited-edition Antarctique timepieces. Continuing a tradition of textured dials, the watch introduces an undeniably enchanted ‘Frozen Meteor’ aesthetic, available in 40.5mm and 38.5mm stainless steel cases. Powered by the brand’s first in-house calibre, the Antarctique model offers an intriguingly simplistic time-only reference, becoming a canvas for an array of exquisite dials.

The Antarctique’s voyage began in 2020 with its introduction featuring shimmering lamé textures. Since then, the collection has bloomed to encompass a wide range of designs. From the signature ‘Stairway to Eternity’ stamped pattern of the Passage de Drake models to the iridescent dial of the Ice Cloud, Czapek has consistently delivered enchanting interpretations. The Antarctique collection also hosts stone dials like the regal Royal Onyx, adorning baguette-cut sapphire markers, and the poetic Polar Sky featuring a glittering blue aventurine.

Taking inspiration from its namesake, the Antarctique naturally aligns with frozen landscapes as its blue tonalities evoke images of polar ice at dusk or even raw denim. A collaboration with dial specialist GT Cadrans has led to a unique dial, hewn from a piece of the Gibeon meteorite. This meteor crashed onto our planet, landing in modern-day Namibia, around 600 million years ago, making each dial a slice of ancient cosmic history.

The stainless steel, barrel-shaped case of the Antarctique continues with its signature flat, brushed look, along with a polished round bezel and crown guards. These characteristics are preserved in the ‘Frozen Meteor’ edition. Both case sizes, 38.5mm and 40.5mm, feature a shared height of 10.6mm and a satisfactory depth rating of 120 metres. The ‘Frozen Meteor’, integrated with the brand’s new V2 bracelet, is indeed a testament to the artistry of watchmaking.
