Unveiling the Formex FX01: A Striking Display of Innovation and Collaboration in Swiss Watchmaking

Published: 29 Jun 2026
Swiss watchmaker Formex partners with Horage to create the highly innovative FX01, signaling a new creative era for the brand.

Formex, renowned Swiss watchmakers previously known for their use of automatic movements from Sellita, ETA, and Soprod, unveils a new innovative chapter in their history with the creation of the Formex FX01 movement. This landmark development is a testament to the constant pursuit of innovation and excellence in Swiss watchmaking. Until now, Formex’s use of third-party calibers, although reliable and of top-quality, imposed inevitable constraints on watch design and functionalities. An ambition for greater creative freedom has led Formex to collaborate with fellow Swiss-based company, Horage, in the creation of their first-ever manufacture movement. Both companies are revered for their premium components and innovative solutions utilized across the Swiss watch industry, making this partnership a perfect blend of unmatched horological expertise.

While Formex has been developing many of its components in-house, until now, the watch hands and movements were sourced from third-party suppliers. With the advent of the FX01, Formex can now significantly reduce the thickness of its timepieces without compromising the internal architecture of the watch. This partnership with Horage, a company renowned for developing advanced mechanical movements and technology, marks the beginning of a new era for Formex, a leap towards greater innovation in watch design and manufacturing.
