TAG Heuer reaffirms its deep-rooted association with motorsports, presenting a stunning watch upgrade - the Formula 1 Automatic Chronograph x Gulf.

Combining luxury, history, and a profound love for racing into one exquisite timepiece, the new TAG Heuer Formula 1 Automatic Chronograph x Gulf is a tribute to the watchmaker’s substantial contribution to motorsports. Since 1882, when founder Edouard Heuer patented his first stopwatch, the brand has inextricably intertwined its identity with racing.

Under Jack Heuer’s leadership in the 1960s, TAG Heuer became the first non-automotive sponsor of an F1 driver, creating iconic models like the Autavia, Carrera, and Monaco. Taking the driver’s seat again as the Official Timekeeper of Formula 1, TAG Heuer announces its triumphant return to the racing world with this fascinating revision of their Formula 1 collection.

Fast forward to the present, the 2025 Formula 1 Automatic Chronograph x Gulf watch embraces significant design alterations. Its chassis, previously stainless steel, is now composed of a robust and lightweight grade 2 titanium, reflectively echoing the watch’s racing inspiration. Further enhancing the motorsports motif, the new case assumes a more angular design, resonant with the nose of a Formula 1 car.

The overarching change emerges from TAG Heuer’s longstanding partnership with Gulf Oil International, dating back to 1971. That year, in the film ‘Le Mans,’ Steve McQueen wore a Gulf-sponsored Monaco chronograph while racing a Porsche 917K. Leaning into this historic tie, TAG Heuer’s latest Formula 1 iteration proudly sports the iconic Gulf Oil livery – vertical orange and light-blue stripes – truly paying homage to the brand’s rich motorsports legacy.

The modernistic and racing-inspired aesthetics symbolize TAG Heuer’s return to its roots and highlight the niche expertise that has made the brand synonymous with precision and innovation in the world of luxury watches.
