The Arken Alterum, launched initially in 2023, achieved an enthusiastic fanbase almost immediately owing to its unique character as a titanium dual-time watch featuring an impressive water resistance. Its fundamental operational approach set it apart from a multitude of similar time-zone watches. Now, much to the delight of its fans, Arken is re-introducing the Alterum in an eagerly anticipated colorway in 2026. The striking Sage Grey variant is a clever blend of grey and green, meticulously designed to blur the lines between the two shades.

The case of the Sage Grey Alterum bears an uncanny resemblance to the existing models, crafted from a brushed grade-two titanium featuring a hardened surface coating, effectively enhancing the scratch-resistance. The specifications of 38mm in diameter, 13mm thickness, and 46mm lug-to-lug remain unaltered. The model protects its dial with a flat anti-reflective sapphire crystal. The watch is sealed on the rear by a solid screw-down case-back. A signature detail in Alterum’s design is the extra date-corrector button that juts from the case’s side. Both the crown and this button feature a screw-down design, ensuring an impressive water resistance of 200 meters.

Particularly striking in its design is the simultaneous mitigation of bulkiness while avoiding the sense of being undersized on larger wrists. Arken has managed to find a sweet spot that works remarkably well. The grain-textured dial surface, bearing a shade of greenish grey, gives a nod to the slate stones found in Cumbria quarries. While the dial markings create a striking contrast, the secondary hour hand in muted sand color pays homage to the coastal dunes, another distinguishing aspect of Cumbria’s landscape.
