Tudor Steps into Spotlight with Black Bay Chrono 39 ‘Bumblebee’: A Pocket-sized Powerhouse in Swiss Timepieces
In 2026, Tudor, the Geneva-based watch manufacturer, launched their first 39mm chronograph. It was a proposition that has not only consolidated but also enhanced the brand’s repertoire. The Black Bay Chrono ‘Bumblebee,’ officially named as M79310N-0001, exhibits a distinctive black and yellow dial – a colorful departure in the brand’s timepiece aesthetics. The Bumblebee model joins the ranks of Tudor’s ‘Daring Colors’ collection which includes pink and light-blue versions of its classic Tudor Black Bay Chrono model.
Despite being the smaller version of the standard 41mm wide Black Bay Chrono, the Bumblebee does not fall short when it comes to functionality and beauty. Sporting a 316L stainless steel finish, the watch’s case flaunts a combination of brushed and polished elements. It measures 13.1mm thick with a 47mm long lug-to-lug distance, offering a contemporary yet modest wrist presence.
Both watches imbibes Tudor’s MT5813 automatic chronograph movement but bear their unique characteristics. While the Black Bay Chrono 41 is 14.4mm thick, the Rolex Daytona, a model with similar stylistic aspirations, is thinner at only 11.9mm thick and is nearly triple the price of the Tudor ‘Bumblebee’. This has led customers to yearn for a Swiss-made chronograph at Tudor’s price point with dimensions similar to those of the Rolex Daytona. The ‘Bumblebee’ offers such a solution.
The case of the ‘Bumblebee’ also features screw-down crown and chronograph pushers, and the dial is protected by a box-style sapphire crystal. To enhance functionality and style, Tudor has ensured that the watch is water-resistant up to 200 meters. The black anodized aluminum printed tachymeter bezel offers an additional stylish flair.
Thanks to Tudor’s innovative approach in combining mechanical excellence with daring aesthetics, the Black Bay Chrono ‘Bumblebee’ has firmly reconsidered the Swiss chronograph market.
