Exploring the Alluring Chopard Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Raticosa: A Nod to Legendary Italian Rally
The historic Mille Miglia Italian rally has always been a significant source of inspiration for Chopard ever since it became the World Sponsor and Official Timekeeper in 1988. The premium watchmaker has paid tribute to the legendary race by creating a series of impressive chronographs embodying the spirit of the endurance event.
One of the most challenging segments of the rally that stands out is the Raticosa Pass—a mountain road that plays a critical role in the race’s outcome. Chopard has now introduced the Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Raticosa to honor this iconic pass whose elevations and tricky bends earned legendary status amongst competitors, including Enzo Ferrari himself.
New to the Chopard’s collection, the Classic Chronograph Raticosa combines heritage with a vintage-inspired design. The 40.5mm case is made from the brand’s proprietary Lucent Steel—an alloy known for durability and brightness, featuring a mix of recycled materials. Other highlights include piston-style chronograph pushers, a steering wheel engraving on the crown, and welded lugs. The caseback, made of titanium, boasts an engraved scene of a historical race car at the Raticosa Pass, encircled by spectators.
The watch’s matte eggshell-tone dial houses beige Super-LumiNova-coated hour markers, black-printed scales, and a classic tri-compax layout. There’s a visible Mille Miglia red arrow logo, while the functions include central hours and minutes, a small seconds display, a 30-minute counter, a 12-hour counter, a date aperture, and a tachymeter scale.
At the heart of the watch ticks the ETA A322-11 base automatic chronograph movement, which has received COSC certification as a chronometer. The calibre boasts 37 jewels and a commendable 54-hour power reserve. It also includes a stop-seconds function to ensure precise time setting.
The Mille Miglia Classic Chronograph Raticosa is immaculately complemented by a brown perforated calfskin strap, mirroring the aesthetic of vintage racing equipment and driving gloves. It joins Chopard’s collection as a 2026 edition of the prestigious brand’s racing chronograph series.
