Kiwame Tokyo Unveils the Kubo Collection - A Timeless Tribute to Japanese Craftsmanship.
Kiwame Tokyo, a Japanese microbrand that was launched in 2025, has been making waves in the horology circles with its ethos of ‘honest watchmaking’. The company, founded by industry veteran Masami Watanabe, has earned accolades for producing well-crafted, timeless pieces that eschew superficiality whilst remaining affordable for the discerning watch connoisseur.
Following the success of its debut Kurotsuki and Usuki models, the latest offering from Kiwame Tokyo is the Kubo collection. Named after the Japanese word for ‘hollow’ or ‘recessed space’, the Kubo series encapsulates the rich Eastern tradition of aesthetical appreciation for depth and shadow. These models feature tasteful design touches such as an off-centered, recessed small-seconds counter, achieving a playful blend of light and shadow that truly sets them apart.
The collection comes in three color options - Sakura (soft pink), Tetsukon (navy blue), and Usuki (ivory) all with glossy lacquered dials that softly reflect light. On the Sakura and Usuki models, green luminescent triangles mark 12, 3, 6 and 9 o’clock, while the bold blue Tetsukon features 12 luminescent markers.
Under the hood, the Kubo watches are powered by Miyota’s 82S5 automatic movement, ensuring reliable performance and a solid power reserve of 42 hours. The watches are paired with premium Italian calfskin leather straps and offer 30m water resistance.
Despite their artistry and top-notch build quality, the Kubo collection remains surprisingly affordable at a retail price of USD 630(excl. tax). Pre-orders open on 21 June 2026, with deliveries expected by the end of July.
