Laps Studio Arche: A Blend of Art and Craftsmanship in Parisian Horology

While haute couture typically springs to mind when one thinks of Paris, the city has proven it’s not averse to haute horlogerie either- as demonstrated by the Laps brand. Over the years, Laps has made a name for itself in the realm of watches that are less traditional timepieces and more wearable pieces of art. They are best known for their collections such as Signature Art Print, affordable quartz-based watches graced with imaginative dial designs inspired by art, culture, and architecture.

However, with the introduction of the Arche collection, Laps throws a curveball, veering towards a more conventional path of watchmaking. Released to commemorate the brand’s ten years of existence, Arche watches are the first automatic timepieces from Laps’ stable, laying the foundation for the newly introduced ‘Studio’ range. The collection dramatically shifts the focus from purely artistic design to a considerate balance between artistic flair and sophisticated watch craftsmanship.

There are four versions to choose from, diverging into two distinct styles. The Green and Ivory models of the Mineral line boast textured matte finishes, while the Minimal series, available in Black and Blue, come with glossy, enamel-style finishes. The result is a collection that seamlessly binds Laps’ legacy of graphic design with the precision of traditional watch crafting, proving that when artistry meets horology, the result is nothing short of spectacular.
