A New Route to High Seas Adventure: Discover Borealis' Novel Porto Covo Nazaré Edition Watch

Published: 03 Jun 2026
Portugal's Borealis brand ventures into uncharted territories with their latest offering - a striking limited edition diver watch known as the Porto Covo Nazaré Edition.

In the modern era of watchmaking, a trend has emerged, which can aptly be termed as the ‘microbrand era’. This trend has democratised the watch manufacturing industry, giving birth to numerous brands in places unanticipated. This trend can be clearly observed with the emergence of Borealis, a homegrown brand from Portugal, known for their meticulous design and risk-taking capabilities. Based just outside Lisbon, Borealis has built an incredible catalog of watches that pay homage to Portugal’s rich seafaring history. The latest addition to this collection is the Porto Covo Nazaré Edition, limited to just 50 pieces worldwide. At 40mm, this automatic diver watch may appear straightforward, but its high-contrast orange theme coupled with distinct indices make it worth a closer look. The Porto Covo Nazaré Edition’s primary highlight is its lively orange Cerakote treatment. Another key feature is the unique placement of its hour markers. Unlike traditional watches, where indices are attached to the dial, here they are integrated with the rehaut, forming protruding stems that cast shadows, enhancing the visual depth perception of the watch. All three hands of the watch enticingly pass beneath these indices without disturbing the time readings. The markers are finely finished, sharp and even, surpassing expectations for a fully custom component. Though weak in its luminosity, the Nazaré Edition compensates with its gorgeous sunburst-patterned dial. Borealis acknowledges this subtly, suggesting that “the black lume… doesn’t shout in the dark. It whispers.” The Borealis Porto Covo Nazaré Edition surely offers a novel approach to dive watches, opening floodgates to adventure under the high seas.
