The Artisan Re-imagined: David Candaux Debuts the DC1 Platinum Art of the Tourbillon
Born into the lineage of dedicated watchmakers, David Candaux’s creations are a sight to behold. Hailing from Le Solliat, nestled in the picturesque Vallée de Joux, Candaux is known for masterfully weaving traditional watchmaking practices with his distinct design approach. Having cut his teeth at Jaeger-LeCoultre, he left an indelible mark on several of the brand’s most ambitious projects. Candaux continues to craft monuments to time, collaborating with some of the most revered names in the watch industry. In 2017, he debuted his own brand, successfully stepping under the spotlight with the original DC1 model.
Candaux has truly placed his mark on his DC1 collection, transforming its character through his choice of materials and finishes. The transition to a platinum case gives the watch a new sense of density and weight. At the same time, the case still preserves its original’s boon - the sharply sculpted geometry. All surfaces are completely hand-polished, staying true to the brand’s commitment to quality and craftsmanship. The dial, too, has undergone a significant transformation. A mirror-polished black onyx central plate, only 0.2mm thick, creates a dramatic contrast, encapsulating Candaux’s eye for detail and deftness of his craft.
