Bulgari's Breakthrough in Ultra-Thin Watchmaking: Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon Platinum

Published: 16 Apr 2026
Bulgari cements its dominance in ultra-thin watchmaking with the revolutionary Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon in platinum. A technical marvel, at just 1.85mm thin.

Following the groundbreaking Piaget’s Altiplano Ultimate Concept Tourbillon, Bulgari has risen to new heights in ultra-thin watchmaking. Just a year after Piaget’s record-breaking creation, the world’s thinnest tourbillon at 2mm, Bulgari introduced the Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon. Crafted in titanium, it challenged the limits of watchmaking mechanics and form factors, reaching a remarkable thinness of 1.85mm. Now, keeping the same ultra-thin 1.85mm profile, the horological marvel is set in platinum, crafting an elegant and pure expression of mechanical ingenuity.

The transition to platinum alters the character of the watch, its overall architecture still boasts of an impressively thin 1.85mm, while its diameter is a comfortable 40mm. The case and the integrated bracelet are now finely crafted in noble, dense metal and treated with satin-brushed and polished finishes. The platinum version adds heft to the watch and introduces manufacturing complexities.

The dial features refined blue PVD accents on the time display and mainplate, infusing a hue of contrast to the technical layout replicated underneath. The flying tourbillon takes the stage at 5 o’clock, flawlessly integrated into the mainframe showcasing operational beauty. This watch is powered by the hand-wound calibre BVF 900. This movement, engineered in collaboration with Concepto, operates at 28,800 vibrating per hour with a 42-hour power reserve. The movement bank on ball bearings and ultra-thin principles to reduce friction and height, a tactical detail critical to achieving its ultra-thin thickness.

The Octo Finissimo Ultra Tourbillon Platinum is currently available in a limited edition of only ten pieces, bearing a hefty price tag of EUR 659,000. Rounds of applause are in order for watching-making’s relentless pursuit of technical perfection, under the bold leadership of Bulgari.
