Highly Acclaimed Watchmaking Classes by NY Horological Society to be Hosted in Australia

Published: 08 Jul 2026
The Horological Society of New York (HSNY), esteemed for elevating the craft of horology, is extending its Traveling Education program to Australia.

Established in 1866, the Horological Society of New York (HSNY), the oldest functioning horological association globally, has been devoted to promoting the art and science of horology. Initially instituted as a guild for watchmakers, HSNY today stands as a non-profit association, celebrated by both watch enthusiasts and the industry for its contribution to horology education.

In 2016, the HSNY unveiled its Traveling Education program – a series of half-day classes taught by professional watchmasters, designed to disseminate comprehensive knowledge of mechanical watch movement. Since its launch, these classes have garnered recognition within the United States and worldwide. Students are given hands-on experience, working on an entire mechanical watch movement, understanding the gear train, winding setting mechanisms, and escapements.

Unlike local brand-led offerings, HSNY’s courses are designed for both budding and experienced horologists. With only limited spots available, those eager to brush up on their watchmaking skills or indulge in a new interest should act quickly to secure their spot. The sessions are set to take place at centrally located, convenient venues in both cities, ensuring accessibility for all participants.
