Unveiling the Rolex Oyster Perpetual 36: A Jubilee of Colours in Horology

Published: 29 Apr 2026
Rolex challenges its conservative traditions to launch a bold and playful version of the Oyster Perpetual 36 with a multicoloured dial.

For those who appreciate the elegance and precision of fine wristwatches, the Rolex Oyster Perpetual is undeniably an iconic model that has played a pivotal role in moulding the brand’s identity and advancing modern horology. As a successor to the groundbreaking 1926 Oyster – one of the first-ever waterproof wristwatches – the Oyster Perpetual inherits a long history of durability and timeless design.

To honour its century-long journey, Rolex revealed an innovative reimagining of the model that goes beyond traditional material and movement improvements. This year, colours take centre stage as the Oyster Perpetual 36 receives a vibrant facelift with a dynamic multicoloured dial, inspired by the Jubilee motif. This fresh and exuberant interpretation is a refreshing surprise, bringing a touch of playfulness to a model usually characterised by a more restrained, classic elegance.

The striking multicoloured dial is a standout feature. Recycling the Jubilee motif first presented in the late 1970s, Rolex transforms it into an ensemble of colour, resulting in a memorable display of brand distinction. The dial now showcases 10 distinct colours, each printed separately for a lively overall look. Despite the colourful chaos, readability is well maintained with 18k white gold applied markers and hands filled with Chromalight, Rolex’s proprietary luminescent material.

The watch is powered by the in-house calibre 3230, a modern automatic movement featuring the Chronergy escapement for improved efficiency and magnetic resistance. Paired with the blue Parachrom hairspring and Paraflex shock absorbers, the movement guarantees robust performance and a 70-hour power reserve. The watch abides by the Rolex’s Superlative Chronometer standard, ensuring precision within -2/+2 seconds per day after casing.

The timepiece is comfortably worn on the classic three-link Oyster bracelet. With an Oysterclasp and an Easylink extension system, it secures a snug fitting and quick micro-adjustment for everyday wear. Despite the exciting splash of colours, the timepiece retains its price at EUR 6,500, aligning with other offerings in the collection.
