The UK horology scene awaits with bated breath to witness the special-edition timepiece, 'The Gimlet', at the British Watchmakers' Day 2025. This masterpiece is a unique collaboration between Studio Underd0g and Fears.

British horology community extends back a full year to British Watchmakers’ Day 2024, developed by the Alliance of British Watch and Clock Makers. The excitement grows for this year’s event, scheduled on March 8, 2025, with special-edition timepieces being the highlight.

Among the new releases stands ‘The Gimlet’, a limited-edition timepiece resulting from a collaboration between Studio Underd0g and Fears. This watch uniquely combines the aesthetics of the two UK-based watch brands. In 2024, Fears collaborated on a timepiece with Christopher Ward, the Alliance 01.

Providing water resistance up to 100 meters, the field watch carries a steel caseback with a lime slice engraving; a vibrant homage to a cocktail theme. The watch uses typography from the Brunswick collection on hour markers, maintaining its Fears’ identity, while other features pay tribute to the designs of Studio Underd0g’s 02Series.

‘The Gimlet’ varies from Fears’ Brunswick models with centrally-mounted hands rather than sub-dials to display seconds. Its dial, secured by bolts on top of a fully-luminous base layer, boasts a shadow effect, giving an illusion of floating numerals.

The watch runs on Sellita Caliber SW210-1, the manual-wind movement found in Studio Underd0g’s 02Series. It promises an estimate of -7/+7 seconds per day with a frequency of 28,800vph (4 Hz) and offers a power reserve of 42 hours.

Tying together British Watchmaker’s Day’s theme, ‘The Gimlet’ sports a leather strap from another British fellow, The Strap Tailor. The dark green calfskin strap tapers from 20mm lugs down to 16mm, sporting a co-branded buckle, displaying the nuanced craftsmanship that complements the collaboration.
