ArtyA Unveils Novel Invention, the Complexity with Dual Inclined Tourbillon System
ArtyA, renowned for its avant-garde approach to watch design, recently shocked the horology world with the debut of the Complexity watch at the Watches and Wonders Geneva 2026 expo. The timepiece’s principal attraction is a groundbreaking, first-of-its-kind double inclined tourbillon system. The twin tourbillons are positioned at the 12 and 6 o’clock markers and linked via a differential to ensure balance. This complex mechanism improves precision while providing an engaging mechanical performance.
In a traditional tourbillon system, the balance rotates within a set plane, fixing timing inaccuracies for a single position. With the Complexity, however, ArtyA has tilted the axis which allows it to move in a cone rather than a flat circle, correcting errors in a multitude of positions. The twin tourbillons, encapsulated in raised sapphire domes that magnify them, are synchronised by a differential that distributes energy evenly.
Inside the watch, the innovative movement is fully visible, providing an enthralling view of how the differential connects the twin tourbillons. Developed in collaboration with Purtec Sàrl, a specialist in high-complication movements from Vallorbe, the manual calibre beats at a rate of 21,600vph and delivers a power reserve of approximately 50 hours. The overall construction of the movement is robust with superior shock resistance. Each tourbillon goes through a complete rotation in 30 seconds, yet they rotate in opposite directions which enhances watch performance.
