A Vision of the Future: Citizen's 50th Anniversary Eco-Drive Photon Limited Edition Watch

The Eco-Drive, a pioneering light-powered timekeeping technology by Japanese watchmaker Citizen, recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. To commemorate this momentous occasion, the company revealed a special limited edition watch, the Eco-Drive Photon.

This forward-thinking watch is driven by the cutting-edge caliber E036. Boasting an improved circuit system, this movement is even thinner than its precursors within the Eco-Drive series, yet possesses the capacity to drive a heftier handset. Presented in either a sleek 39.6mm titanium case or a stylishly upscale DLC black and gold coated rendition, these watches are water-resistant up to 50 meters and are paired with an integrated bracelet to match.

Citizen plans to release the Photon in the fall of 2026. The Super Titanium version (Ref. BJ6560-53W) is priced at $995, and the DLC-coated black and gold titanium variant (Ref. BJ6569-59X) at $1,195. Each model is limited to only 5,000 pieces, making this release an enticing prospect for collectors and Eco-Drive enthusiasts alike.
