BMW challenges convention with its new track-ready estate car, the M3 Touring GT3, proving family cars can be both comfortable and exhilarating.

There’s a fresh name racing along the fast estate car scene - the BMW M3 Touring GT3. Combining both luxury and speed, this car is designed for those who crave the thrill of the race while ensuring the comfort and practicality of a family vehicle. Until now, this niche was mainly occupied by the Audi RS6 Avant and the Mercedes E63 AMG. Nonetheless, BMW is making a reappearance, shaking the market with this new contribution.

The M3 Touring GT3 isn’t just an impressive prototype whipped up for promotional purposes. It began as an April Fool’s joke in 2020 when BMW released digital images of the concept. The overwhelming response led the company to actualize the model, and the result is nothing short of spectacular.

Based on the M4 EVO GT3 platform, the car celebrates BMW’s long-standing racing heritage. The M4 EVO GT3 was introduced in 2025, boasting BMW’s latest racing technology and an impressive track record with 80 victories and over a hundred 2nd and 3rd places. The M3 Touring GT3, crafted after 8 months of development, is closely comparable in performance and features a six-speed X-Trac transmission. It’s powered by the same P58 twin-turbocharged 3.0-litre inline-six-cylinder engine, capable of up to 590bhp and 700Nm torque.

All in all, the BMW M3 Touring GT3 is an impressive fusion of elegance, comfort, and speed. While it meets the needs of a family car, BMW ensures it never loses its racing spirit.
