Exciting Announcement from Christopher Ward: The Launch of the Sophisticated Calibre CW-002 and C63 Sealander True GMT Watch
Renowned for creating complex mechanisms and movements, British watch brand, Christopher Ward, has recently taken a step further into horological ingenuity. The brand unveiled its latest innovation, the in-house Calibre CW-002, assembled within its newly launched C63 Sealander True GMT watch. This release signifies the brand’s commitment to expanding its timepiece portfolio while catering to the needs of travellers.
One essential feature of the C63 Sealander True GMT is its GMT display, designed with the traveller in mind. Unlike office GMT-style watches, the C63 Sealander True GMT empowers users with an independently adjustable local hour hand. This hand allows wearers to set it forwards or backwards without disturbing the minute, second, or GMT hands, thereby simplifying the task of time adjustment when crossing time zones.
For this achievement, the brand used its Calibre CW-001 (formerly known as SH21) as a base, marking the handiwork of Christopher Ward’s Technical Director, Frank Stelzer. As a result, the Calibre CW-002, launched in 2023, is an integration of a GMT complication that amazingly doesn’t increase the movement’s height. The newly introduced calibre sees a total of 23 components, of which 16 are newly designed and seven modified from existing CW-001 parts. Thus, this innovation marks another significant stride for the brand in timepiece technology.
