Behold the Dark Elegance: Unveiling the Fortis Marinemaster M-44 with DLC Coating

Published: 13 Mar 2026
The pioneering Fortis Marinemaster M-44 reemerges with a dramatic new feature: a dark-themed DLC coating. Welcome to the world of ultimate exploration, on land and underwater.

Introduced in 2021 as part of the brand’s renewal, the Fortis Marinemaster M-44 has quickly secured its status as a serious contender in the world of luxury sports watches. Not simply a trusted companion for divers, this utilitarian timepiece, boasting a name with historical weight, is designed with the modern explorer in mind, traversing both aquatic and terrestrial environments.

In 2021, a fresh chapter opened for the Marinemaster range, projecting an image of a versatile ‘go-anywhere, do-anything’ watch. The new collection encapsulated this spirit, focusing on adventure, journey and exploration. These aren’t timepieces that are destined to recline on safe and dry land — they are intended for those passionate about stepping, diving, or climbing into the unknown.

Entering a new era this year, the M-44 has embraced the dark side, with the Gravity Black and Black Resin editions. The unyielding construction and rugged look of the case remains consistent, exemplifying a focused sports watch with solid diving credentials.

Measuring 44mm in diameter, the M-44 case manages to remain surprisingly compact on the wrist, with a lug-to-lug measurement of 48mm. The water-resistance reaches an impressive 500m and is equipped with unique features for optimum protection. In addition to the classic screw-down crown located at three o’clock, the M-44 provides an additional crown at ten o’clock, a simple but brilliant system to lock the bezel in place.

The excitement this year, however, surges from the new colour scheme. For the first time in its history, the Marinemaster M-44 is infused with a black Dianoir DLC-coating. Along with the darker hue comes exceptional resilience — the coating offers a surface hardness of 4,500 HV (Vickers), an extraordinary figure, 20 times harder than conventional stainless steel.

Bold in vision and in execution, the new Fortis Marinemaster M-44 DLC Gravity Black and Black Resin models are ready to journey with the intrepid explorer, under water or on the highest peak.
