Amalfi Series 2: De Rijke & Co.'s Homage to Classic Car Culture in Mechanical Watches
The name De Rijke & Co. might just be the next big thing in the horology world. The Dutch independent watchmaker has recently unveiled the Amalfi Series 2, a reincarnation of vintage aesthetics and modern time-keeping precision lined with a profound respect for automotive design. This series is the brainchild of founder Laurens De Rijke, who envisaged a watch specifically designed for driving.
The first striking feature of the Amalfi Series 2 is its unusual rotatable case which can be turned 90 degrees to maintain an upright position while driving. Alongside this practical innovation, the watch series embraces the automotive theme through its fascinating dial designs, meticulously developed in collaboration with British automotive illustrator Guy Allen. Each dial serves as an enamel miniature artwork, representing some of the most iconic cars of their time.
Powering the watch is the Sellita SW300 automatic movement, chosen for its slim profile and reliable performance. The watches also offer a considerable power reserve of 42 hours, stopped-seconds feature for precise time setting, and come with leather straps and quick-release spring bars. The Amalfi Series 2 watches are limited to a numbered edition of 50 pieces each.
