Lunar New Year Specials: Celebrating the Chinese Zodiac's Year of the Fire Horse with Iconic Watch Designs

Published: 17 Feb 2026
When the Lunar New Year dawns, it is not just a time for celebration, but also an opportunity for watch brands to showcase designs inspired by the Chinese Zodiac. As the Year of the Horse approaches, some acclaimed watchmakers have released exclusive, limited-edition creations, paying homage to this vibrant symbol of the zodiac.

Celebrating the Lunar New Year, several watch brands have released timely special editions inspired by the Chinese Zodiac’s Year of the Horse. They have imaginatively transformed design aesthetics with an exciting range of options, from subtle changes in dial colours to more audacious métiers d’art creations.

Vacheron Constantine, a brand celebrated for its Chinese Zodiac tributes, continues the tradition with handmade watches symbolising the Year of the Horse. Available in a limited 25-piece run in either platinum or pink gold, these timepieces feature an intriguing 40mm case with a horse and rock sculpture. Supported by the Calibre 2460 G4, these métiers d’art masterpieces skillfully blend grand feu enamelling with precision handpainting on the dial.

However, the surprise entry this year was the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph Year of the Horse edition. Departing from their usual style, the brand has embraced the Lunar New Year theme, resulting in a warm, rosy champagne base dial. Enhanced with an intriguing touch, the Chinese character for horse replaces the ‘7’ on the date disc, symbolising the horse’s seventh position in the Chinese Zodiac cycle.

Celebrating the Year of the Horse, these horological masterpieces are not just accessories, but artistic statements, encapsulating the symbolism of the Chinese Zodiac in their design. As such, they represent the perfect blend of Eastern tradition and Western craftsmanship.
