Exploring Breguet's Pilot Watch Heritage with the New Type XX Chronographe 2075
Storied watchmaker Breguet has a reputation for creating some of the most exceptional timepieces throughout history. Many recognise the brand for its connections to Abraham Louis Breguet’s era in the 18th century. However, Breguet’s legacy extends well into the 20th century with its profound focus on aviation and the creation of iconic pilot watches.
In the mid-1990s, Breguet introduced its well-renowned Type XX collections, which became defining pillars in the arena of pilot watches. Constantly evolving, the line-up saw additions such as the Breguet Type XXI and Type XXII. Breguet achieved a significant feat in 2012 by introducing a high-frequency 10Hz watch movement in the original Type XXII.
Breguet’s Type XX platform has always been recognized for its unique blend of elegance and utility, which makes it the epitome of exquisite aviator watches. The new Type XX Chronographe 2075 collection embodies this tradition by crafting timepieces that excellently balance masculine functionality with refined aesthetics.
The Type XX 2075 case is an emulation of a special “civilian” Breguet Type XX (Type 20) piece from 1955, perfected with proportions in a gold case. The new watch case dimensions sit at 38.3mm wide and 13.2mm thick. On the wrist, these watches perfectly encapsulate what an upgraded Breguet pilot timepiece can be.
